Are you in a rut when it comes to clutter? Do you find yourself running in circles because you have no idea where to begin? Do you tend to move things from one pile to another? What will you do with the excess?

Been there, done that! I found that I love to organize because I despise clutter so much! The most important thing I've learned along the way is that Rome wasn't conquered in a day....in other words, you do not have to tackle the mess all at once (unless you need the space asap!).

Here are 5 steps that you can apply to any room (closet, drawers) to reclaim your space:

  1. Remove all items that add to the clutter and group all like things together.

  2. Toss old or worn-out items, and donate the never (or rarely) used items.

  3. Assess the space(s) and determine if you can rearrange or repurpose items to gain more space, or buy storage containers that would be more efficient.

  4. Only keep the items used often at hand, and the rest can be stored away with easy access.

  5. In order to keep your space from going back to the way it was, always put items away after using, and get rid of things that no longer serve you.
